Colored Girls for Colored Girls – Evolution of Expression

Colored Girls for Colored Girls—Evolution of Expression serves as ARTE NOIR’s flagship visual arts contribution to the 50th anniversary commemoration of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf in collaboration with the Ntozake Shange Trust. ✨

The exhibition will bring together women artists whose works move between tenderness and rupture, memory and invention. Drawing from Shange’s formal and emotional architecture, the exhibition uses the figures of lady in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, brown, and purple as a curatorial framework through which questions of identity, embodiment, environment, and remembrance come into view.

Submission Deadline: July 17, 2026
